Cream Color studies
May 20 2009, 8:47 PM EDT | Post edited: May 20 2009, 8:47 PM EDT
AS a few of you know I have been in contact with a university in Calif. That is studying the coat colors. I had contacted them about the creams because they had come up with the color of Cremello in the horse's and the color is about the same as our Cream Dobies. So I wrote them asking about there studies on the dogs and told them about our babies and there colors. We have been emailing back and forth now for a month. They asked for photo's and I sent them some of mine. Now were talking about other dogs as well. If you have a Cream Doberman, could you send me the best picture showing there color to the best advantage. I have found that the flash and bright sunlight wash's out there color So have done some evening or no flash indoor photo's to get there true color to show. I just got a request today from Becky at the university of photo's that are current as of now. So if any of you want to participate let me know and send me a good photo of your baby. If I can get testing done maybe we can prove our babies to be a totally seperate color and give them a color name. Even if the DPCA does not want to recognize them. Have a blessed day one and all. Do you find this valuable?

Well after 3 weeks only 2 have sent me pics of there Creams. I was kinda sad to see that you were not interested in trying to get the Creams classified with there own color. It was kind of disheartening to think you love them and claim to want them recognised but don't have enough time to help try and get them classified. All it took was a picture.
Thanks to Devito & Princess from Cherelyn, Heidi and Blue Moon from Patricia and Mia from Dana. I have sent the pics on to the University. And just waiting to hear from Becky.

Well after several months, The results came back on the coat color studies. I have sent the results to the owners of the dogs that participated. I was happy with the results but a bit confused also. Becky from the university is calling the dogs Blond. And according to what there studies show they don't know where the Cream color is coming from. It could be through the breeding of the colors with the Whites over the years. As it only takes about 10 years to change the size, shape, color, etc of a species according to studies found in a genetics study. In trying to pin Becky down as to what to classify them for color I have not gotten an answer. But in all emails she has continued to call them Blond. There is a place in Canada that is doing studies as well.
So for right now our Creams are a new emerging color I guess. What does that mean for our dogs???? Well that's anybodies guess right now. Time will tell and I plan on continuing to push for an answer.

Oh I forgot one thing. The Creams are not Albino. They do have a color. Becky calls them Blond. Do you find this valuable?
