Medicines,Vaccines & more - MijnSchatjedobermans Vaccination Protocol For Your Dog
Info from Youpet.com

Starting off, your puppy will need its first set of shots at the age of 6 weeks, and not before. Depending on the area you live in, different vaccines are also given. In areas that do not have a high tic count, or high Lymes disease incidence, most veterinarians will not include that in the regular vaccines. The most common first set of vaccinations would be the DHPP, or Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus. If your veterinarian vaccinates for Leptospirosis disease, it will be a DHLPP. Since there are very few cases of Lepto anymore, your pet probably will not be receiving a vaccination for that. They will also get their Bordatello, either a shot or drops in the nose. Some people refer to this as kennel cough. The DHPP or DHLPP should be repeated again at 12, 16 and 20 weeks of age. Your pet should also be wormed at this time and started on their heart worm preventative. At 3 months, your pet should receive his Rabies vaccination. Some counties and states have different requirements on this so be sure to check with your locality. The next year, the Rabies and the DHPP (DHLPP) will need to be repeated. After this, it is not necessary to have them more then once every three years, if your county recognizes the 3-year Rabies vaccine. The Bordatella however, should be repeated annually. This is especially necessary for pets that are boarded, groomed or around other pets such as at parks or play dates.

Be sure to watch your puppy closely the evening after his vaccinations to ensure he is not having a negative reaction to the vaccines. It is normal for them to be a little sluggish and maybe not want to eat, but use common sense in evaluating that. If you think that the symptoms are more severe then normal, such as difficulty breathing, seizures or rapid heart rate, get them back to the vet immediately, and for future vaccinations, let the veterinarian know so they can do an antihistamine shot prior to giving more vaccinations to avoid any bad reactions or adjust which vaccinations they are giving.

Remember, its extremely important to have your pet vaccinated properly and discussing this with your veterinarian may put your fears and questions to rest.

Some info about the flea's and ticks,

Flea, Tick, & Pest Control
“The flea life cycle (egg, caterpillar, cocoon & adult) takes about 3 weeks. Your dog can host the female flea for the entire life cycle. The flea will be sucking blood and laying 20 to 30 eggs each day. By the time you notice fleas you will already have an enormous number of eggs, caterpillars and cocoons on your dog, in your carpet and on your furniture. The flea pupae in cocoon stage are impossible to kill and they will continue to hatch even after fumigation. Ten female fleas, under ideal conditions, can produce 90,000 eggs in just 30 days. Fleas can cause flea-bite dermatitis, flea-bite anemia, and tapeworm infestations.
Ticks are arachnids like mites, spiders and scorpions, not insects. Their harpoon-like barbed mouth attaches to the host for feeding. Ticks carry Lyme disease which can be transmitted to both pets and humans by the bite of a deer tick. Ticks also carry Rocky Mountain spotted fever. There are more than 825 species of tick and they can lay 100 to 6,000 eggs per batch depending on the species. The tick life cycle has four stages; egg, six-legged larva, eight-legged nymph and adult. Ticks can be active on winter days when the ground temperatures are above 45 degrees Fahrenheit.”

Stress and it's effects on your babies. Did you know that your dog can be stressed as well as you? An article from Pet
Place.com says this about stress and your dog.

Here's one thing we can all agree on. Our lives are filled with stress. The pace of our lives alone is brutal, and we worry about everything. So is it any wonder that our dogs are stressed out, too?

The truth is, our dogs pick up on our emotions and react to the chaos in our lives. When we're tense, they're tense. When their lives feel chaotic, they become agitated. Our stress certainly impacts our four-legged friends.

And there are plenty of other things that can put your dog on edge...

A strange environment, being home alone for long periods of time, loud noises or thunder, long car trips ... all of these things impact your dog's sense of well-being. Your pet's nervous anxiety can manifest itself in many ways - a physical or behavioral issue, digestive problems, a change in appetite, hypertension, even depression.

When you and I are trying to unwind, soothing music or the gentle sound of the ocean's waves can really help. Music really can be good for the soul, but that doesn't just apply to humans. It's also true for our pets. Studies of household pets have shown that music can definitely help them to relax. They have even identified certain sounds, songs and instruments that seem to work best.

For instance, dogs and cats prefer classical music. Cats will relax in front of a stereo speaker when classical music is playing. Dogs will actually bark less - especially when they listen to Bach. Household pets under stress-inducing situations will often slip into a very serene and peaceful state of mind after listening to classical music for only a few minutes... ahhh

To be an effective relaxation tool, music must have a consistently smooth, soothing dynamic from start to finish with no abrupt changes in tempo, volume or rhythm. That's not usually the case with radio broadcasts or most "off-the-shelf" classical music CDs.

But recently, I discovered a new music CD called Music My Pet . "Music My Pet" was developed for the specific purpose of calming our pets and the science behind it is very sound. It re-orchestrates classical pieces by popular composers like Bach, Beethoven and Brahms using the instruments, sounds and musical dynamics proven to calm dogs, cats and other household pets.

The musical genius behind this pet-friendly relaxation CD is Tom Nazziola, the award-winning musician who was the principal performer on Disney's acclaimed Baby Einstein children's CDs and DVDs.

So... if you're looking for a good way to help your dog cope with stress or just enjoy some really relaxing time, I suggest you take a closer look at this CD.
